I had the pleasure of finding out having two last names is bad news. Our shipment of stuff from Singapore has been held up under custody for weeks at the port of Los Angeles. Why? Because my mum's shipping documents have 'Lee Tan' as her last name on some of them and just 'Lee' or 'Tan' on others. Just because of that, Mr-Donut-Eating customs officer suspected some oh-so-illegal activity and had it all impounded. Thankfully, its all been 'cleared up' and my stuff is somewhere along an interstate on the way here. Props to American bureaucracy.

On other fronts, a girl got raped on campus by some apparently 'big and tall' 6' 4" (185cm+) random black guy. So now all the girls are really scared and are demanding escort services, etc. Some even decided to take justice into their own hands as I found out:

Rachel: Ohmigod Brian! Did you hear about the girl! I was sooo freaked out I bought pepper spray! *Takes cylindrical object out of handbag*

BLT (Amused): Oh really?

Rachel: Yeah! Now I can spray mace into the eyes of any 6' 4" (185cm+) guy that tries anything... Weird...

BLT: But... (Noting that Rachel is only slightly taller than Mel) How can you reach his face?

Rachel (Slightly dejected): Oh...

I found out she bought it from the CAMPUS BOOKSTORE for about $10. Immediately, all sorts of ideas came to mind using pepper spray as an offensive weapon. I tried persuading her to test it out on some random, helpless passer-by to see the range, but she refused. Ah well. I'll go check it out myself one of these days.
