Update 140-01
Update 140-01
Arrr
25th May
10:05 PM

It's been a while since I blogged. Some latest developments:

1.History HL: Thanks to IB History HL, I got 102% (Yes, out of 100) for my latest history midterm. How I got that I have no idea – The only thing I can say is 'IB!'

2.Honors: I got into the honors program (Somewhat like a GEP program here). Now, in exchange for my eternal slavery to the system and endless hours of compulsory service hours (Think CAS), I get the use of a private elevator, free printing (Previously 10c per page), US$500 worth of free textbooks, and some uber posh lounge to 'relac' in and smoke Marlboro. Needless to say, it's pretty high society. My plans to world domination have just begun.

3.Money: As a convenient present on my upcoming 18th birthday, my parents claim that I have to pay for school fees with my own money and buy my own car in order to grow up. SIGHS.

Watched the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean III last night with my friends. I shall decline to comment on the plot (Or lack thereof) which seemed to focus on reviving old characters, explaining complication pirate law, giving Keith Richards a longer-than-really-needed cameo, and introducing an endless, complex cycle of plot twists that even confused the architect of unexplainable twists (moi).

I didn't get the entire United Nations thing either – Okay so you have crazy Asian pirates led by some Yoda Chinawoman, loincloth-clad Africans (So not cliche!), stuck-up Frenchmen, turbaned-Arabs that were really gay (I still don't get that guy's voice), and some Latin American Banditos that look completely out of place. WHAT THE HELL.

I have no idea if I should be impressed with Disney's attempt at political correctness or be utterly disgusted with their portrayal of non-Anglo cultures. The Humanities student in me senses a subliminal, underlying anti-colonial subtext of the story: Let's see, we have stuck-up Brits attacking a multi-ethnic band of pirates...

No wonder it's called 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The WORLD'S end'.

Finally Hollywood has some vague, mystic-like knowledge about Singapore – Albeit a cliched, stereotypical one. GREAT. Although people will now know where/what the hell it is, they'll still think we spawn pirates, are really close to China, speak CANTONESE (wtf), and idolize Chow Yun Fat. How fun. For those of you that are going overseas, be prepared for extra scrutiny at airports, stares of menace, and 'arrrr' from the customs official when you show your passport.

Speaking of going overseas, if any of you buggers have nothing else better to do in December after IB Exams, visit my sorry ass here in California. I'll be your chauffeur and drive you around. We can visit the ghettos (My house) and go on (film) shooting sprees.

Aye.

Update 138-01
Battle of the Bands!
2nd May
11:25 PM

I did this video over the weekend:

On the day itself, I went down to the location with my camera and was told to film something along the lines of '300 spoof', 'epic battle', 'guitar fight', 'crazy action' and 'make this shit look good'. It was very run-and-gun but I guess it was pretty up my alley. You can download your own copy HERE too. Enjoy!

Sorry about the lag of blogging. I assumed no one reads this page anymore haha. Especially all you busy IB people!
