Update 21-1
Update of Day 25-1
Monday 21 November 2005
6:45 PM

Apologies to people who read this PLog (If there are any at all) but its been rather busy lately and I havent had the time to update. Anyhow, I submitted the film today to compete in the Canon Film Festival. It is 14:57 seconds long (With no credits). A brief run-through of whats been happening for the past 5 days:

Parents have been extremely pissed off with me lately - Well, for the past few days at least. They're sick and tired of this whole damn thing. It is paradoxical in a way that they are both my greatest supporters as well as my worst detractors. Having to rush the editing process, the both of them appear to seemingly block my ever move such as preventing me from staying up late, etc. etc. Last night, I stayed up until 3 AM; my Mum found out and gave me this 1 hour lecture about trust and other bullshit. (I slept through most of it anyway and kept saying sorry to get her out of my way) They've been invaluable assets to this production but ultimately depending on them, or rather, troubling them, was the worst thing that we did. In a nutshell, the finished product is far from great.

1) I was going to listen to Alastair and cut out the entire first emo-intro (I agree its way to long)but I didn't have time to because Mum kept scolding me. Ended up leaving it instead.
2) I did not have time to artificially adjust the lighting and tweaking the tints in each scene
3) Theres a big ass muzzle flash inside one of the frames which I wanted to edit but parents kept pestering me to submit the bloody thing. Its one of those random things you see in a film which you can either forget about because its so quick or re-wind and laugh at the director's stupidity. It is most likely the latter case in this competition. I expect some chuckles when that segment is reached.

4) I had no time to review the final product. There could be little screw ups here and there which I could have rectified if my parents had given me more time instead of rushing me off to Malaysia.

It was my Dad's birthday today and I'm kinda' sorry about ruining it because of this stupid film. But seriously - All they had to do was give me one damn day to finish off this thing and I would not have bothered them anymore. This marks a turn in our productions. No more will I ever - Ever - Turn my parents for help/advice/counsel/guidance/transport again. The 'political' reprecussions will haunt me badly in post-production when they start bitching. Nothing is free in this world and it is much better to be self-sufficient than to be indebted to someone. My relationship with my parents will probably never recover but oh well - Thats stuff not to be discussed on this site. Motion stills (If there is such a thing) of the 15 min version will be released in the next update. The 30 min version is pending release by the middle of next month - Depending on...Prevailant circumstances.
